April 1, 2013 – Quillsoft announces the upcoming availability of iBarkQ, a revolutionary iPad App that allows you to understand what your dog is saying to you. iBarkQ is based on extensive research and computational barquistic analysis of a corpus of over 1,000 barks recorded in parks and homes. If barking isn’t for you, try our successful iWordQ App for struggling readers and writers. Think. Write. Go!
How can teachers benefit from WordQ?
Top 3 ways WordQ can help Teachers with time management:
1. Marking written work – Have students turn in their digital copy of essays, assignments, or projects and have WordQ read it back to you. Reading can be time consuming and draining. But by hearing their work, you can listen for sentence structure, grammar, spelling mistakes, and correct punctuation. Simply highlight the text and press the Read button and either Heather or Ryan will read it for you. Slow down or speed up their voices through the Speech Feature Options.
2. Limited time for peer-editing – Have students edit their own work with the Read button. Most times when you read your own work, you read it the way you want it to sound but by having someone else read it, like Heather or Ryan, you can hear the way it actually sounds. WordQ is a great tool for listening to your work. Since in-class time is valuable and limited, students can self-edit their work at home or in a lab (Unlimited home and school access is available with site license purchases and for OSAPAC schools)
3. Simplify report cards – Report card comments can be time consuming. Program abbreviations for each comment and add them to WordQ. When you type the abbreviation, it will expand into the full comment, cutting a significant amount of time spent on each one.

Note: WordQ 3 is available to all public schools in Ontario through the Ministry of Education’s OSAPAC. Teachers and students also have Home Access and should contact their school for further information.
